Institute of American Music Foundation Created
The Institute of American Music Foundation is a newly created organization that will sponsor and encourage outreach events like music in the home, workshops, jam sessions, Fiddlefest contests and concerts and other events that were previously provided by The Institute of American Music. IAM will now be used solely as an internet business where Mark Geslison can sell the musical products he has developed.

The Institute of American Music Foundation (IAMF) is a non-profit and tax-exempt organization. One of its capacities will be to serve as an agency of sorts for family bands, ensembles and individuals to post their information (photo, bio and recorded music sample) for promotional purposes. The IAMF website will promote and market groups and individuals, enabling them to play at various events and venues such as Thanksgiving Point and Old Deseret Village. This will be a free service for IAMF participants. We also want to inform musicians of recording facilities where individuals and groups can record samples for the website. Geoff Groberg is willing to record people in his home for $25.00 an hour. He can be reached by phone at 794-1265 or by email at geoff@geoffgroberg.com

Another Foundation goal is to sponsor an outreach program where underprivileged children can study acoustic music with highly trained teachers free of charge or at a reduced rate.

We envision IAMF as an educational site where people can log on to receive lessons, exams in theory, ear training, note reading, etc. in order to further their musical knowledge. All of this will require endowment funding, which is now in its early planning stages. We are excited and empowered by the capacity for good the Foundation has to make a positive contribution to the world through music education.

The Barn is Coming

The Institute of American Music was founded in 1993 for the purpose of providing individuals and groups the opportunity to study traditional American and Bluegrass music. It provides a forum for students at all skill levels whereby they may learn from one another through means of individual lessons, group performances and informal workshops. The Institute provides a well-rounded musical experience for those desiring to develop their talents in acoustic music.
