Barn Dance Resumes This Friday

Our Barn Dance will be in full swing again (pun intended) on Friday, August 4th. Don’t miss this final summer dance before school starts. Please remember to bring a snack to share with your fellow dancers, musicians and friends. The dancing and music will begin at 7:00 and go until 9:00.

August Jam Session

This month’s jam session will be held August 17th at 7:00 in room 201 of the Provo Library. The jam sessions provide an informal setting to practice your tunes, rhythm, playing with other musicians and having fun. Please come join us!

Fiddle Fest Coming in October

The 4th annual Fiddle Fest will be held October 28th at the Tahitian Noni Auditorium at Riverwoods in Provo. The competition will begin at 12:00 noon and proceed throughout the day concluding with a final competition round and an evening concert featuring the bluegrass band Cold Creek. The contest will be divided into two divisions consisting of small groups ( 2-4 performers) and large groups (5 or more performers). The small band registration fee is $25.00 and the large band registration fee is $50.00. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three bands in each division.

Each band is required to play three tunes–one an instrumental, one a vocal and one of the three should have a slow tempo. A complete listing of the rules, downloadable registration form, judge’s bio, evening concert information, directions to the venue and the performance schedule will be available on the Fiddle Fest website, which is coming soon. Start preparing now to enter your band in this year’s competition.

Performance Opportunities at Thanksgiving Point

Thanksgiving Point is looking for volunteer musicians to play during the Farmers Market each Friday from August 4th — October 6th. Thanksgiving Point will give band members a free pass to some of their attractions in return for performing. I’m aware of three spots that have already been taken by some of our IAM musicians–so don’t delay! If interested please contact Jon Clegg at:
