Fall Fiddle Fest Just Weeks Away

The 4th annual Fall Fiddle Fest will be held October 28th at the Tahitian Noni Auditorium at Riverwoods in Provo. This event has become a fall tradition for musicians and folk music fans throughout the valley. Mark it on your calendar today to avoid missing all the great music and fun the Fiddle Fest has to offer. Not only will you enjoy great bluegrass and folk music but you’ll have the opportunity to win a guitar and other great door prizes.

The official Fiddle Fest website is now available with downloadable registration forms, schedules, judging criteria, rules, evening concert information, cash prizes, contact numbers, judges, eligibility, directions to the venue and much more. You’ll want to bookmark this site as it will be updated with more information as it comes available. The address is:

Participants have already started registering to compete, so don’t delay sending in your information. Admission prices are $5.00 per person or $25.00 per immediate family. Your admission covers both the day and evening competition as well as the evening concert featuring the bluegrass band Cold Creek. If you’ve attended this event in the past, you know you won’t want to miss it and if you’re new to the Fiddle Fest, welcome!

October Jam Session

The Institute of American Music will sponsor a jam session on October 19th at 7:00 in room 201 of the Provo Library. The jam sessions provide an informal setting to practice your tunes, rhythm, playing with other musicians and having fun. Please come join us!

The Institute of American Music was founded in 1993 for the purpose of providing individuals and groups the opportunity to study traditional American and Bluegrass music. It provides a forum for students at all skill levels whereby they may learn from one another through means of individual lessons, group performances and informal workshops.
