Jewish Klezmer Music Featured At The April Barn Dance

Imagine the music from the musical “Fiddler on the Roof” and you’ll have an idea of the treat you’ll experience on April 4th at The Barn in Mapleton. The BYU Klezmer group, Klezmore, will be the featured band for the April Barn Dance. Easy Jewish Folk dances will be taught and called during the evening. We hope you’ll come experience the joy found in the music and dance of Israel. Please remember to bring a snack to share with your fellow dancers and musicians.

Ethnic Folk Music Concert at BYU

Four exciting and diverse folk music groups will perform on March 13th at 7:30 in the Madsen Recital Hall on the BYU campus. This concert has been described as an ethnomusicological event, showcasing the music of Indonesia, Mexico, Ireland and Israel. The four groups will perform in the following order:

Indonesian Gamelan Voice Ensemble
Mariachi Band
Irish Ensemble
Klezmore

If anyone is interested in performing at The Courtyard at Jamestown, a retirement center, please contact Laurie Smith at 377-3730.

Another performance opportunity is with the Santaquin Senior Citizens group. They meet at lunchtime on Fridays. If interested, please contact Claudia Peterson at 754-5310.

The Institute of American Music was founded in 1993 for the purpose of providing individuals and groups the opportunity to study traditional American and Bluegrass music. It provides a forum for students at all skill levels whereby they may learn from one another through means of individual lessons, group performances and informal workshops.
