Fiddling for 3 Violins & Piano is a collection of arrangements for violinists who wish to play fiddle tunes together. Often, violinists seek music based on fiddle tunes or other traditional folk music. This series delivers thought-out arrangements for a trio of violinists. The piano book is a vital part of the series because the arrangements account for a pianist as a 4th member of the “band.” All arrangements move the melody, harmony, and accompaniment parts around from instrument to instrument—including the piano. If your group of violinists number more than 3, that’s not a problem. Just double up on the parts just as you would do in an orchestra setting.
The intent of the chamber music offered by the Institute of American Music Foundation (IAMF) is to make fiddle music more available and present in the lives of American musicians. Though some of the tunes used in IAMF series such as Fiddling for 3 Violins & Piano are from other countries like Ireland, Scotland, and Canada, the arrangements are intended to further the music repertoire and perspective of American musicians. This is not to say that the arrangements are not meant for people outside of the U.S.. Of course, anyone in the world is welcomed here. Perhaps you would like to learn American songs and tunes?
