Fiddling for String Orchestra Volume 2

Fiddling for String Orchestra is a 12-book series divided into two sections. Volume 1 presents 16 arrangements of fiddle tunes for string orchestra. These arrangements are designed for 6th through 9th grade orchestras. Some arrangements are simple enough to be used for an elementary school orchestra. Volume 2 presents 14 arrangements designed for 9th through 12th grade string orchestras. Keep in mind that some younger orchestras are made up of higher skill musicians, and some older orchestras (High School or adult community orchestras) are made up of intermediate musicians. The intent of the music in Fiddling for String Orchestra is to provide a fun-to-play experience that brings traditional folk music into a standard orchestral setting. The tunes are arranged to sound like fiddle tunes as played by a string band or dance band from the Appalachian Mountain region of the U.S., or like that of a Bluegrass band from the southeastern U.S. Melody and harmony parts are provided for all 5 orchestral instruments (Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola, Cello, and Bass). All 5 instruments also play accompaniment parts as well throughout each arrangement. Both Book 1 and Book 2 come with a score book for the conductor.
Fiddling for String Orchestra is a digital book series. When you order the 12-book series, you will then be provided with a link to download the entire 12-book series in PDF-format. You will then have the legal rights to use the books within your orchestra community. If you wish, you can print only the parts you need at a given time, then provide those parts for each orchestra student. You can also keep the files in digital form if you (and your students) use a device, such as a tablet, an iPad, a smart phone, or a laptop.
Please know that the audio files above are midi files generated from our music software. These files will serve well as samples of how the tunes sound even though they are not played by real humans playing a real, acoustic instruments. However, we will add real human audio as soon as we can. Please accept these midi files for now.
